About Us
The Human Rights & Religious Freedom Journalism Awards honor the groundbreaking and in-depth reporting on pressing issues concerning Indian minorities and marginalized communities.
The Human Rights and Religious Freedom Journalism grant program supports early and mid-career journalists to pursue independent reporting projects that cover key challenges confronting the minorities and marginalized communities in India and the Indian diaspora in the United States.
Both the awards and the grant program are being organized by the Indian American Muslim Council, a Washington DC-based advocacy group.
Our goal is to support, recognize and highlight stories that accentuate the challenges faced by the communities undergoing immense persecution.
We are interested in stories that amplify voices that are otherwise unreported or underreported, that inspire intent to create change and that challenge misperceptions and stereotypes about minorities and marginalized communities.
